What’s the difference between CBD and CBG?
Customers frequently ask us how to support pain relief. At Baked Goods, we generally recommend CBD – but for tackling pain, a CBD/CBG combo product could promote additional benefits.
What is CBG?
CBG (cannabigerol) doesn’t cause a “high” like THC. CBG is antibacterial, anti-fungal, and may promote anti-cancer effects. “CBG is a minor phytocannabinoid and its acidic form (CBGA) is often referred to as “the mother of all cannabinoids” as it is a precursor to numerous other phytocannabinoids, including THC, CBD, and cannabichromene (CBC),” explains a Scientific Reports article.
Scientists recognize that CBG could help with pain management. Last year, Pennsylvania State University announced that taking a combination of CBD and CBG may potentially contribute to relieving aches, especially for bone fractures. “In a study in mice, the researchers unexpectedly found that the cannabinoids also promoted fracture healing,” confirmed the university.
Differences between CBD and CBG
CBD and CBG have similarities; for example, both are both anti-inflammatory. So how are CBD and CBG different from each other? Read the table below.

When CBD and CBG are combined, beneficial effects may amplify. This is because merging cannabinoids in an oil, capsule, etc. can foster extra benefits from the entourage effect – learn more about this by clicking here.
