Why consider Barked Goods CBD oil for your dog’s end-of-life care

When it comes to nearing the end of their living journey, comfort and compassion is beneficial for a dog. CBD can have a role in animal palliative care to help manage pain, mood, and rest.

So why would people consider CBD for their dog’s palliative care? Here are some reasons:

  1. To manage chronic pain: CBD oil – especially from the hemp plant – can be safely ingested by canines. It can reduce inflammation via the endocannabinoid system, which may contribute to lowering pain.
  2. For mood support: Aches and cognitive decline can potentially trigger anxiety in an animal. Ingesting CBD oil can support the production of neurotransmitters, which may encourage your dog to be calm.
  3. For promoting restful sleep: Some dogs are restless near the end of life. Administering CBD may offer sleep improvements in your canine. This may occur via the dog’s endocannabinoid system, as the goal of this system is to support a balance in physiological processes.

It’s not uncommon for our customers to ask us which CBD products to try for their dog’s palliative purposes. We usually recommend our Barked Goods CBD oil, as you can easily control the dosage. Drops can be quickly inserted into food, water, and/or depending on your dog’s temperament, directly into the mouth.

As a gentle reminder, your vet should be consulted for palliative support. CBD may be discussed with your veterinarian, especially if your dog is currently on other medications. To improve comfort levels, you can also play calming music for your dog, minimize loud noises, make water readily available, and give them lots of loving, gentle cuddles.

CBD may be beneficial as a natural supplement for dogs. If you want to learn more about using our Baked Goods products for pets, read this article on how to use CBD for rescue animals.
