Do hemp seeds contain CBD? Baked Goods explains

You’ve likely seen hemp seeds sold in grocery stores. Though CBD can be derived from the hemp plant, the seeds do not offer the same effects! Baked Goods explains below.

Do hemp seeds contain CBD?

Despite the fact that hemp seeds and CBD can be from one plant, they are two completely different things.

Plain and simple, hemp seeds do not contain CBD; CBD from hemp can only be extracted from the plant’s leaves, stem, flowers and stalk. The seeds, however, are still nourishing for the body. “The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in hemp seeds is the optimal level for nutritional benefit,” confirms WebMD. “This balance supports both heart and cognitive health and is often lacking in most diets.”

Here are some more reasons to add hemp seeds to your salad, yogurt, or smoothie:

  • It’s a plant-based protein that also contains amino acids, B vitamins, magnesium and zinc; suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
  • They have gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which may beneficial for reducing inflammation. GLA sourced from hemp also has the potential to help balance hormones during menopause.
  • They’re a source of soluble and insoluble fibre, which can help improve digestion.
