Understanding the Use of CBD Oil for Asthma

Did you know that CBD oil can help manage asthma? On a daily basis, over 300 Canadians are diagnosed with this chronic respiratory condition. Baked Goods highlights key facts about using cannabidiol (CBD) for asthma symptoms.

4 Things to Know About CBD for Asthma

  1. CBD is naturally anti-inflammatory and has the potential to relieve irritated airways. Further research is needed, though a study on mice showed that airway inflammation declined when CBD was given during asthma attacks.
  2. Stress can potentially cause asthma attacks. In fact, “People who develop with asthma are at three times increased risk to develop internalizing disorders, namely anxiety and depression…” states an article from Brain, Behavior, & Immunity – Health. CBD can be helpful for reducing stress levels, as it interacts with your endocannabinoid system to balance the mind and body.
  3. CBD may also promote analgesic effects by binding to certain receptors from the endocannabinoid system. This may be beneficial for asthmatics, as some people get chest pain from excessive coughing.
  4. If you already have respiratory issues, vaping/smoking CBD isn’t recommended, as the inhalation method can aggravate airways further. But CBD can be consumed  with sublingual oils and edibles. Baked Goods has a variety of oils available in different doses, and if you’re interested in edibles, we have candies, honey, and more! Click here to browse our Baked Goods CBD shop.

FYI: CBD can interfere with some medications, including blood thinners and NSAIDs. It is still undetermined by labs if CBD can interact with asthma medications. Before trying CBD, please consult with your healthcare practitioner and/or pharmacist to avoid medication interactions.
