Study confirms that using CBD oil on cats is safe long-term

The makers behind Baked Goods CBD products love your dogs as much as your cats! This is why we offer Feline Purrrfect, a pet CBD oil designed to help promote calmness and pain relief for your feline friend.

Just like dogs, cats can also get joint pain, anxiety, and inflammation, which is why pet parents have been curious about using CBD oil on cats.

Earlier this year, the journal Frontiers in Veterinary Science published Healthy cats tolerate long-term daily feeding of Cannabidiol. It highlighted a study regarding the safety of administering hemp-based CBD to felines, proposing that CBD oil is “…well tolerated by healthy cats when supplemented over a period of 26 weeks.” This news is significant in the pet world for a few reasons. Firstly, “Although data on the safety and efficacy of long-term oral supplementation are increasing in dogs, evidence remains lacking in cats.” Also, the study confirmed that it’s promising to further scrutinize how CBD can affect cat behaviours and illnesses.

Our pets have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) just like us. So, when they ingest CBD oil, CBD may alert their ECS receptors to promote balance, which can contribute to easing pain and improving mood. Baked Goods’ Feline Purrrfect oil may be suitable because it contains no additional flavoring, just hemp CBD and coconut oil – which is suitable for finicky cats! Start with five drops and slowly increase the dose if need be.

FYI: Please consult with your vet prior to administering CBD oil to cats. Formally ruling out underlying health issues and medication interactions is strongly advised.
