Baked Goods Presents: 9 Facts About CBD for Cats

At Baked Goods, we love all of your furry friends, including cats! In fact, a medical journal recently confirmed that long-term use of CBD oil is safe for cats. So, what should you know about giving your cat CBD? We highlight key facts below:

1. CBD (cannabidiol) is naturally anti-inflammatory, so it may help reduce inflammation in senior cats, while helping to manage pain.
2. Cats are finicky, which means if something is out of routine, they can get anxious! CBD can help promote calmness, especially for stressful situations such as grooming and travelling.
3. Cannabidiol is neuroprotective, so it may be helpful for pet owners who are addressing seizures in their cats.
4. Mammals, including cats, have an endocannabinoid system that supports homeostasis in the body. CBD targets this system, which can help regulate the gut, bone health, pancreas, and more in a cat’s body.
5. You can give your feline a CBD edible, topical, or oil, depending on their needs. We generally recommend CBD oil because you can control the dosage.
6. It’s usually recommended for cats to take hemp CBD oil. Hemp CBD does not contain THC, which can be harmful to both dogs and cats. Make sure the oil can be safely consumed by animals. 7. If you opt for a CBD edible or topical for your cat, make sure it’s made specially for pets, as they cannot eat certain ingredients. For example, chocolate is poisonous to cats!
