A Baked Goods Guide to Purchasing Pet CBD Oil

Lately, we’ve noticed that more pet parents are using CBD to help alleviate dog and cat anxiety, pain, and more.

What’s also noteworthy is that as research progresses, scientists are beginning to unravel the effectiveness of pet CBD oil. For example, a Frontiers in Veterinary Science article recently confirmed that “…short term oral dosing of CBD up to 20 mg/kg daily…does not cause any significant adverse effects in healthy dogs.”

So, if you’re in the market for a pet CBD oil in Canada, follow these tips:

  • The carrier oil must be safe for animal ingestion. Pets cannot always eat the foods that we can consume. For example, avocado oil is a no-no for dogs because it can trigger heart or digestive issues. The makers of Baked Goods use only animal-friendly ingredients, which is why we embrace coconut oil for our Barked Goods and Feline Purrrfect oils.
  • Opt for CBD oil. Each pet may respond differently to varied doses of CBD. Using a dropper to administer the oil into pet food or treats allows you to control the dose for your pet’s needs.
  • Read the labels carefully. Dogs and cats have an endocannabinoid system, but compared to humans, theirs is highly sensitive. So, when you shop for pet CBD oil, make sure the CBD is derived from the hemp plant, which has less than 0.3% THC. Also, if you see the term “CBD isolate” listed, it ensures that THC and other compounds have been removed.

CBD can potentially open doors to improving your pet’s health. Please speak to your vet prior to giving your dog or cat CBD. This is especially important if your pet is on prescriptions, as you want to prevent medication interactions from occurring.
