Top 6 Winter Care Tips for Dogs

  1. Sure, your dog is covered in fur, but they still need protection from the cold weather. In fact, dogs can get frost bitten like humans! We recommend purchasing a warm dog coat from your local pet supply store.
  • While you’re getting a dog coat, buy some booties for your four-legged friend. This provides your dog with extra warmth and prevents ice and salt from irritating the paws.
  • Be cognizant of your dog’s abilities and tolerance for walking in the snow. Not all dog breeds can withstand cold climates! And if your dog struggles with arthritis, daily walks may need to be shortened to reduce slips and falls.
  • There may be changes to your routine due to harsh conditions, and these changes can cause anxiety in your pet. So, why not consider giving your dog CBD? You can add some pet CBD oil to a treat when your dog appears anxious by excessively barking, chewing furniture, or whining. Our Baked Goods CBD products for pets can be purchased from us or from a local groomer called Canine Coiffur.
  • Introduce your dog to some new indoor toys! This can keep your pup entertained inside and help with reducing anxiety.
  • Make sure your pet has a warm section in your home with plenty of blankets; this section should be away from drafty, windy areas. Keep portable heaters away from your pet, too. You can consider heated pet beds/mats, but they should be used at home with caution.
