Myth or Fact: Can CBD Oil Improve Athleticism? Baked Goods Explains

CBD has many health benefits, which includes anti-inflammatory effects and mood support. But according to gossip, some people are taking it to improve athletic skills.

Can CBD actually do this?

It’s hard to say, as there’s a lack of evidence supporting this notion. However, CBD may help reduce chronic pain and inflammation, especially for muscle recovery. “The use of cannabidiol (CBD) among athletes is becoming extensive and frequent. This could be due to the elimination of CBD from the list of prohibited substances by federations and international institutions of sport,” confirms the journal Frontiers in Physiology

Baked Goods CBD oil could help lessen inflammation and repair cells for healing. If you’ve suffered from head injuries, you should know that CBD has neuroprotective properties, too! Here are some tips to consider if you’re planning on taking CBD for athletic recovery:

  • For CBD first-timers: take it away from a game or workout. Once you know what to expect from its effects, you can administer it before or after training.
  • Not comfortable ingesting CBD? Apply a topical instead! A CBD-based salve can be rubbed on before or after training to prevent pain. If you’re treating certain injuries, such as tennis elbow, rub the topical directly on the affected area. (Do you need CBD salve recommendations? Just ask us!)
  • Finally, confirm with your healthcare provider whether or not CBD is suitable for your fitness goals. This is because CBD can have medication interactions.
