Can CBD boost testosterone levels? Baked Goods explains
Did you know that testosterone declines in men as they age? CBD (cannabidiol) is not directly linked to boosting testosterone – but it may help symptoms related to “low T”. Baked Goods explains in this new post.
What it means to have “low T”
Testosterone supports male features. When the male body cannot make enough of this hormone, this is called “low T” or low testosterone. This condition can be caused by aging; but it can also be triggered by medication side effects, injuries/cancer linked to the testicles, obesity, and potentially thyroid impediments. Symptoms may include: reductions in sex drive and sleep; erectile dysfunction; low sperm count; mood swings; boosts in body fat; muscle and bone loss.
It’s necessary to see your healthcare provider for concerns about your hormones. If left untreated, low T can put a man at risk for cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.
Can CBD enhance testosterone in men?
Findings are mixed on whether or not CBD can alleviate low T. But it may be beneficial for lessening symptoms – here’s how:
- CBD may enhance mood: CBD can interact with serotonin receptors, thereby helping to lower low T’s emotional symptoms.
- It can aid stress levels: Chronic stress can shrink testosterone production. Cannabidiol can aid with stress response regulation and promote calm feelings.
